There will be a series of events (dates to be confirmed) at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre, Cocklebury Road Chippenham SN15 3QN.

5 September, Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre, Cocklebury Road Chippenham SN15 3QN, 2 pm. To mark the 80th anniversary of the start of WWII Gillian and Maureen will give a presentation about Bombweed and sign copies of their book.

June

3 June, Chippenham Lions “Cherished Vehicle and Farm Fun Day.” Maureen will talk about her memories of the farm which features in the story.

9 June, North Somerset Showground “Dig For Victory Show”.

July

2 July, BBC Radio Wiltshire, The Afternoon Show, 14.00 pm. GF Morton and Maureen Armstrong to be interviewed on 3rd July at 12.30 pm Radio Bristol with  Steve Yabsley.

10 November, Village Hall,  All Cannings,  near Devizes ,Wiltshire, SN103PA. Maureen will speak at a day to commemorate the end of World War 1. Includes a  discussion on the impact of war on the countryside and farming communities.

January

21 February, Imperial War Museum, London, SE1 6HZ, 11am – 1pm and 2 – 4pm. Meet the author.

23 February, Portsmouth Library History centre, 2pm. Gillian and  Maureen will talk about Bombweed, and the life of their mother, Margaret Smith, who in 1947 wrote the original story.

March

8 March, Horfield Memory Cafe, Bristol. Maureen will be talking about and reading from Bombweed

27 March, St Mary Redcliffe lunch club, Prewett St, Bristol, 12pm – 2pm. Maureen talks about her mother’s life.
